Alchimia, mistero, mitologia, tradizione ma anche lettura profonda della realtà, attraverso l’arte. Questo e molto altro ancora sintetizza la carismatica personalità di Alessandra Casciotti, che vanta numerosi successi alle spalle tra cui la partecipazione alla 58.Biennale di Venezia Arte nel Padiglione della Repubblica Dominicana. La poetica della Nostra presta attenzione alle figure, alle forme archetipiche, ai colori che divengono in realtà manifestazione dell’ineffabile e dell’inesprimibile. Ogni composizione è traccia di un viaggio che porta alle origini, a quei luoghi arcaici dello spirito. La peculiarità del Maestro è poi quella dote, tutta sua, di riuscire a coniugare ricerca tecnica e simbologia, due polarità che si compenetrano vicendevolmente. Se, da un lato, si possono individuare – in certe composizioni – punti di tangenza con l’Avanguardia russa di inizio Novecento e il Bauhaus, dall’altro si riscontra una tendenza simbolista in grado di rinvenire delle corrispondenze tra mondo oggettivo e sensazioni soggettive, ciò delinea i contorni di un’artista che sfugge all’incasellamento, risultando al di sopra di tutto. Non potrà sicuramente sfuggire il labor limae che caratterizza la sua produzione, vero e proprio comune denominatore di ogni opera. Ecco dunque susseguirsi dinanzi agli occhi dell’astante frammenti di pavimento musivo in verticale dove la volontà è quella di riproporre un piano di calpestio che si ribella ad una mera funzionalità, aprendo la strada ad un raffinato gioco estetico e ad un rimando iconologico. Come è noto, nel mondo classico, qualsiasi elemento, strutturale e non, di una costruzione serviva a testimoniare una condizione, a narrare dei contenuti, a celebrare un particolare status. Allineandosi a ciò, la Nostra dà vita a dei manufatti raffinati, frutto di un complesso schema formale in cui interagiscono e si intersecano varie geometrie: è così che, quasi magicamente, nella limitatezza perimetrale di ogni singola opera prende vita un rimando ad infinitum, in cui è piacevole perdersi, tra ordine, subordinazioni e colore. Particolarmente interessante risulta essere 6 MI LE NA, acronimo di 6 Miti e leggende di Napoli, con cui Alessandra omaggia e celebra il capoluogo campano. Lo fa in maniera insolita, indossando le vesti di Efesto, l’antica divinità della metallurgia; il rame viene quindi impiegato sotto forma di un esagono scompartito, punto di raccordo di diversi intenti e sintesi perfetta di ricerca spaziale e afflato concettuale. L’opera viene movimentata non solo dalla convessità impressa, ma anche dagli inserimenti di serrature in ottone: Napoli, metropoli affascinante, intrisa di suggestioni e misteri atavici, terra di contrasti stridenti, svela i suoi segreti solamente a chi ha la sensibilità per accedervi, continuando così ad essere un arcano insoluto per il resto del mondo.

She can count on a successful story behind her thanks to, among others, her participation in the 58th Biennale of Venice inside the Dominican Republic Pavilion. The poetics of Our artist pays attention to the figures, archetypal forms, and colors that substantively become exemplifications of the ineffable and the inexpressible. Each work of art is the trace of a journey leading to the origins and those archaic places of soul.Another peculiarity Alessandra Casciotti does have is an unparalleled, innate gift that allows her to combine technical research and symbolism, two milestones that blend into each other.Some of the artist’s works show connections with the Bauhaus and Russian Avant-Garde in the early nineteenth century, whereas several others seem to focus on a symbolistic trend able to make you find correspondences between the objective world and subjective feelings: that contributes to outlining the metaphorical silhouette of Alessandra Casciotti, an artist who is hard to trap into preset rules since she turns out to be above and out of any possible categorization. It sounds highly unlikely not to notice the value of the so called labor limae, which characterizes the whole artist’s production due to the fact that a mirable accuracy shines through any of her artworks. As a consequence of this, a succession of fragments of the mosaic floor placed vertically rises before the eyes of the bystander who can genuinely experience the real intention of the artist: she is willing to repropose a walking surface rebelling against a mere functionality in order to pave the way both for a refined aesthetic game and for an iconogical reference. According to the renowned classical culture, all the elements of past buildings and the like, whether they be structural and non-structural, would help people witness a condition, tell about contents, and celebrate a certain status. Conforming to this, Alessandra Casciotti creates refined pieces of art resulting from a complex formal scheme where various geometries interact and intersect. That is why Alessandra Casciotti’s works, in spite of the logically limited perimeter they have, almost magically lead the bystander to a reference ad infinitum where it is pleasant to get lost among order, nuances of color and addiction. Worthy of mention is then 6 MI LE NA, an Italian acronym standing for 6 Neapolitan Myths and legends, by which Alessandra praises and celebrates Naples. The artist managed to depict the city in an unusual way since she wanted to represent it by wearing the clothes of Ephesus, the ancient deity of metallurgy. Once designed this art of work, she put on the wooden board a copper compartment hexagon, which is the junction point of various purposes in addition to revealing itself as a perfect synthesis of spatial research and conceptual inspiration. The just above mentioned piece of art turns out to be enlivened not only by the imprinted convexity, but also by the insertions of brass locks: the fascinating metropolis of Naples, land of striking contrasts steeped in ancestral suggestions and timeless mysteries, will certainly reveal its secrets only to those who have the sensitivity to access them, while it is intended to remain an unsolvable mystery to the others.
